Free Carrier (FCA) is the most flexible and highly recommended Incoterm under the ICC 2020 framework. It can be used for any transport mode, including road trucking, ocean container shipping, air freight, and multimodal rail. Under Option A (seller's premises), the seller loads the goods onto the carrier's truck and clears export customs. Under Option B (carrier's terminal or forwarder warehouse), the seller delivers goods to the facility ready for unloading. Risk transfers immediately upon handover. Incoterms 2020 introduced a crucial provision for FCA maritime container shipments: the buyer can instruct their ocean carrier to issue an 'On-Board Bill of Lading' directly to the seller to satisfy letter of credit (L/C) banking requirements.

Why FCA is Superior to FOB and EXW in Turkish Trade
